My Family

S.G.Ranga and Geeta Ranga. My parents. I respect and pray that they are always happy. As far as I know about my family I can tell about around 3 generation. My father and uncle would know about more. Our family carry the surname "Ranga". We are from Jodhpur, Rajasthan INDIA. My parents tell me that we are originally from Pokhran, another place in Western Rajasthan. But my attachment has been with Jodhpur only. My mother is from Phalodi, a place roughly 150 KMs to the west of Jodhpur.

My father is an Engineer as such is a very logical person. We are 3 brother and 2 sisters. My brothers are Dr.Daulal Ranga, Medical officer in Jodhpur. Ramesh Ranga, development officer in Jodhpur and myself Suresh Ranga, IT Consultant based in Malaysia currently. My two sisters are Kamala Vyas and Dr.Leela Vyas both based in Bikaner Rajasthan. A small family. We grew up as a traditional middle class family in late sixties and early eighties. We had a nice and good life. Growing up in different parts of India due to frequent transfer of my father (who worked for BHEL) we learnt a lot. In fact I have lived a lot of my life in South India. Vijayawada and Guntur are my favourite places. Incidentally I can read and write telugu and speak tamil.

My mother is a housewife. Simple and religious she has been along side my father during his good, mediocre as well as bad times. She is the pillar of our family. Though with very little formal education she has managed to bring up 5 kids in those difficult days, to make sure that all had a decent education. She always told us to keep studying. She said she missed education. For almost 15 years of my life, till I reached high school I always thought that my mother is very educated. She had answers to all my questions. It was only during later part that I found that she had almost no schooling and learnt all through experience.
